The Division of Animal Reproduction and Gynaecology and Obstetrics
The subject of Animal Reproduction and Gynaecology and Obstetrics is an important component of B.V.Sc. & A.H degree programme. The division of ARGO at present is imparting residential instructions for MVSc and Ph.D. degree programmes in the discipline of Veterinary Gynaecology and Obstetrics.
The main mission of the division is to provide expert hand, latest diagnostic technologies related to Theriogenology and dissemination of scientific knowledge to the stakeholders.
To build excellence in Teaching, Research and Extension in the field of Animal Reproduction, Gynaecology and Obstetrics and generate skilled and trained human resource to take up the challenge of demand driven and sustainable livestock development in the region.
The department is conducting research on reproductive problems faced by the dairy farmers, and on innovative ideas to enhance reproductive efficiency in the farm and pet animals. Main thrust areas of research are:
The Scientists of the division are actively involved in attending various gynaecological/Infertility cases presented in the Out-patient department of the University Hospital on Roaster basis. Attending of various clinical/Infertilty camps organized by various KVKs of the University in collaboration with the Development departments.Imparting hands on training to the Veterinary Assistant Surgeons and Livestock Assistants of the Animal and Sheep Hubandry Departments of Kashmir from time to time.Imparting training for the educated unemployed youth regarding the Artifial Insemination Techniques in large animals under field conditions.
